GOLDEN SPREAD WOODCARVERS was founded on October 16, 1999, by 18 woodcarving enthusiasts whose stated mission was/is to "….promote an understanding, appreciation, and recognition of woodcarving as an art form in the Panhandle of the state of Texas and surrounding areas, and to make available the means whereby interested persons may learn and practice the art of woodcarving."
